About Us

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Shoals creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We serve children across the Shoals through community-based and school-based mentoring programs that help young people reach their full potential.


Position Overview

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Shoals is seeking a creative, motivated, and community-minded Marketing & Community Engagement Intern to help increase awareness of our mission and programs. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, social media management, event planning, and community outreach. As an unpaid internship, this opportunity is designed to provide meaningful real-world experience, professional development, and networking opportunities while making a positive impact in the community.


Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media content for Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and LinkedIn
  • Capture photos and videos at events and program activities
  • Assist with graphic design projects using Canva or similar platforms
  • Help promote fundraising events, volunteer recruitment campaigns, and community initiatives
  • Assist with email marketing and promotional materials
  • Help tell the stories of our Bigs, Littles, volunteers, and community partners


Qualifications

  • Current college student pursuing Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Business, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Experience with Canva
  • Creative, organized, and dependable
  • Passion for making a positive impact in the community
